In this week's interview series, we are interviewing Nemanja Ubovic. Nemanja is one of the best centers in the world and he was happy to share some facts about his career, check out more below:

1. When did you first realize that you could be a career waterpolo player and that you can turn your passion into your day job?

At the age of 15, when I was in VK Belgrade, one coach took our generation and he taught us how to train and behave like a professional sportsmen. So since that moment those manners has been following me trough my career.

2. Which challenges did you have to overcome to become the player you are today?

I left my hometown when I was really young. At the age of 18 I moved to Novi Sad and since then I’ve been playing internationally, so the biggest challenge for any sportsmen is being away from home from an early age.

3. What motivates you the most about your profession as a waterpolo player?

Thinking about the all the opportunities and possibilities ahead of me, especially when I think about the championships and the medals that I can achieve. But the most motivation I always found comes from competing with the best players in the world.

4. What does your daily routine look like?

I like to wake up early, so my day starts at 7.30 am, then I'm having a hearty breakfast and I'm preparing for the training. I like to be 30 min. early so I can prepare myself by doing some prevention workout. After the training I like to get some coffee with my teammates. After lunch a bit of rest for the second training in the afternoon. As I said I like to wake up early so in the evening like to watch some tv show and with that I'm closing my day around 12pm.

5. What would be your waterpolo dream team choice today? Waterpolo manager mode!

For me those players are:

1)Dusan Mandic ,

2) Alberto Munariz ,

3) Aleksandar Ivovic ,

4) Felipe Perrone ,

5) Andrija Prlainovic ,

6) Dusko Pijetlovic

And last but not the least, goalkeeper Marco Del Lungo!

6. What is the best piece of advice you have ever received from a coach?

In my opinion the most valuable advices are those you hear and learn when you are very young, at the beginning of your professional career, because then you build a foundation for all the future improvements. For me that were advices like: “always give a 100% on every training”, and “The greatest results come with a lot of hard work and a lot of patience.” Quite simple, but it resonated with me.

7. What, in your opinion, is the biggest challenge for waterpolo players today?

In this moment definitely adapting to the new system of competitions because of the Corona virus. Also being uncertain about timetable of the future tournaments is very challenging.

8. Tell us about your most successful season in waterpolo?

Definitely that was my first season in Barceloneta 2013/14, when we won 7 trophies in one season, including the Champions league. For me that season was special because that team was made of the young guys who demonstrated that they will be one of the best, as they are now.

9. Which other sports do you like to follow and do you have any other hobbies?

I have some friends in sports and I like to follow and support them. The sports I like to watch are mostly handball and basketball.
